Step 1: Check Your Insurance Coverage
Start by contacting your insurance provider or reviewing your benefits booklet. Ask if custom orthotics are covered under your plan.
Ask specifically:

Step 2: Confirm if a Doctor’s Prescription Is Required
Many insurance plans require a doctor’s prescription to approve custom orthotics. Check if your plan asks for:

A referral or diagnosis from a medical doctor (MD)

A prescription that includes a medical reason (e.g., Plantar Fasciitis, flat feet, overpronation)
Note: Insurance will often not accept a prescription that simply says “foot pain.” A clear diagnosis is important.
Step 3: Get a Medical Prescription (If Required)
If your plan needs a prescription, visit your:

A walk-in clinic
Ask them to assess your condition and issue a prescription for custom orthotics, ideally with a specific diagnosis such as:

During this visit, we will:

Assess your biomechanics

Record all the necessary documentation for your orthotics order
Step 5: Wait for Your Custom Orthotics to Be Ready
After your assessment, we will process your custom orthotics order. This usually takes 1–2 weeks.
We will contact you when your orthotics are ready.
Step 6: Book a Fitting Appointment
Once your orthotics arrive:

Return to AHC Wellness Clinic for your fitting appointment

You’ll try on the orthotics to ensure they fit well and feel comfortable

We will provide the final documentation you need for your insurance claim
